Financial Challenge

All youth groups are encouraged to tithe from their fundraising efforts to the Nashville 2001 Scholarship Challenge. While youth groups are encouraged to raise their own funds for Nashville 2001, these tithes along with other contributed funds will be made available to assist those whose personal and congregational resources are limited. The Youth Convention office has established as a priority funds to help all youth who wish to attend this event who might not otherwise be able to go. Financial requests can be made as an individual, youth group or conference/district. All inquiries and applications for financial assistance need to be mailed to:
You may request an application in writing, by calling 219-294-7523, or emailing a request to mennyc@mennoniteUSA.org The postmark deadline for financial assistance is Friday, March 30, 2001. You will be notified by April 20, 2001 with the amount of assistance you will be receiving. All youth convention participants will be at Opryland Hotel. The Convention Center where we will meet is connected to the hotel. You may check out Opryland facilities at www.oprylandhotels.com RV camping is available at the Opryland KOA Campground. It is approximately 2 miles north of Opryland Hotel on Music Valley Drive. Please call them directly at 615-883-9113 for more information. Shuttles will not be available for campers.
One
of the primary goals of Youth Convention is to insure its accessibility
to all youth groups, regardless of costs. To that end, the budget
will include more than $50,000
in financial aid. However, past
experience shows this will not be enough to cover all needs. Consequently,
we are again challenging youth groups to raise additional funds to
help others less fortunate to be able to attend. As your youth group
is raising funds for your expenses, we also invite you to raise additional
funds and send them to the Youth Convention office to help with the
costs of others attending. For more information about the scholarship

Raising
thousands of dollars needed to attend Youth Convention can be a monumental
task. It also can be an important way to build teamwork and unity
in your youth group and congregation. How has your youth group worked
